Poetry Day: A New Light

Hello, and Happy Spring, readers!  I know this one is kinda late, but with so many projects on my to-do list, I've let my old friend Procrastination take advantage of me again.  Not to worry, though; I'll shake the guy off eventually . . . .

On the plus side, I've brought you another Poetry Day segment this month, and this one won't cause clinical depression!  Happy day!  This was one of the poems I submitted to RVC Voices magazine (a local college publication, for those of you outside Illinois), the first of two, if I'm not mistaken.  I had a concept and a few lines in mind, and when I finally clicked away at it on my computer, the rest just sort of flourished all on its own.  I hope you enjoy it, because I really believe its one of the best poems I've ever written.

Thank you again for your time, and for your eyes.

A New Light
To start anew
A heart that's true
For new and old
Is bold and golden
Hold an art form
Hearts worn and torn
Born again
Forlorn and then
When dark ends
Marks mend
Attend, reveal
Wounds heal
Dreams become real
A seal of trust
Won't rust away
A new day
Two ways of life
Strife becomes love
From above to below
A love to grow
From the lowly ground
Only to astound
And confound those
Who impose disbelief
Dispose of grief
Sigh with relief
Have belief in love
Where hate ends
Love begins
Sins forgot
Not a time to fight
Prime delight
Keep hope alight
All through the night
Bright as a sun
A moon, a star
Far, far above
The pain of strife
Love is life
